Urban Thinkers Campus, Nairobi. A collaboration with Making Cities Together coordinated with Technical University of Kenya, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning International New Town Institute and Placemakers. The campus focused on the (co-) production of Safe, Inclusive and Accessible public spaces in the first growing cities in line with the theme of the UTCampuses which was: ‘Towards the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.’ (With a special focus on fast growing cities). The UTC an event, and sought to tap directly into a UN-Habitat Governing Council, (UN-Habitat GC26)Public space and placemaking. TU-K was/is strategically placed to make valuable contributions and partner in the space and placemaking ventures. I co-ordinated activities with placemaking, the participatory processes to ensure the development of high quality and inclusive public spaces. My students at the Design and Creative Media Department had the opportunity to actively engage in dialogues, Living Labs and networking sessions; learn-by-doing.
This collaboration invited city makers, city leaders, policy makers, grassroots leaders, students, urban professionals, private sector and citizens to lead and join discussions, knowledge exchange and Living Lab sessions. As a result turning discussions into practice with our learners at TU-K
